Scott Moir notes that the 2013 Magic Millions 2YO Classic could be a History making event:
From a historical perspective there’s several records that could be tied or broken in 2013’s edition of the Magic Millions Classic.
In the twenty-six year history of the Magic Millions 2YO Classic, no horse has won when carrying greater than 56kgs. In order to claim a victory Clevedude and the others assigned 57kgs will have to establish a new weight-carrying record.
Tommy Berry who's riding Certitude has won the Magic Millions 2YO Classic in back-to-back years, having saluted with Driefontein last year and Karuta Queen the year before.
Should Tommy Berry win this year’s race, he would become the only jockey in the history of the Magic Millions 2YO Classic to have won the event in three consecutive years, besting Willie Harris (1995-96) whom he’s currently tied with.
In the twenty-six year history of the Magic Millions 2YO Classic a total of twenty horses have won when drawing barrier’s 1-9, including a remarkable eight in the past nine years.
Should this year’s winner come from barriers 1-9 it would represent a 90% win-rate in recent times, which is unprecedented for a race of this scale and consistently large field size.
