Walter Neale was regarded as one of the best trainers to base himself in Toowoomba. He had a string of big race winners over a 40 years period and, along with trainers such as Jim Atkins and Bill Neilsen, kept Toowoomba in the spotlight.
His best wins included the Brisbane Cup (Blue Boots, Tragopan), QTC Derby (Regal Dignity, Blue Slipper), Doomben Cup (Qualetta), QTC Guineas (Blue Slipper), Queensland Cup (Blue Vest), Doomben Newmarket (Regal Dignity) and BTC Carnival Handicap (Regal Dignity).
