Tipping the scales at 190kgs Stan often joked he was Australia's biggest bookie because of his size. But for 30 years he was among the biggest betting bookies in Brisbane. He was a regular on RadioTAB and also often spotted at charity events promoting the sport. He had great success as an owner with his best the filly Isolda which won the 1995 Champagne Stakes, defeating Octagonal and the smart sprinter Masked Party who won the 1999 AJC Galaxy.
