Noel Doyle was a former top jockey who rode some of the best horses in Brisbane in the 1960s including the mighty mares Eye Liner and Eye Shadow. He showed tremendous character in the late 1980s and early 1990s when his horses Don't Play (Stradbroke) and Kinjite (Doomben Cup) were beaten in controversial photo finish results.
Doyle rarely had a big team but got his reward with the champion galloper Kinjite. Some of his big wins include the AJC Epsom (Kinjite), AJC Spring Champion Stakes (Kinjite), Gold Nuggett (Stylish Century), Brisbane Handicap (Don't Play), Magic Millions (winter) 2YO (Kinjite), BTC Classic (Brunchtime), McDougall Stakes (Mercheri), Bernborough Stakes (Beau Zephyr), Up and Coming Stakes (Kinjite), Brisbane Handicap (Beau Zephyr), Brambles Classic (Stylish Century), Cameron Handicap (Don't Play), Ascot Handicap (Don't Play), Fernhill Handicap (Kinjite), QTC Lightning (Hot To Race), Defence Force Cup (Don't Play), Goldmarket (Atlantic Crossing, Beau Zephyr), BTC Summer Stakes (Atlantic Crossing), Bribie Handicap (Hot To Race), VRC Hong Kong Jockey Club Trophy (Palidamah), Rockhampton Cup (Move Closer), and Rockhampton Newmarket (Pacific Union).
Thanks to Melissa Doyle, Noel's daughter, for these photos and media pieces of Noel.
