Neil Williams

The glamour apprentice of the mid-1980s, Neil Williams won the premiership three times. He rode well over 500 winners in Queensland and also competed in Hong Kong. Beset by weight problems his career ended all too soon.

His best wins were the Magic Millions Two-Year-Old (Brave Warrior), QTC Castlemaine Stakes (One Guinea), Prime Minister's Cup (Hayley's Hope), Ansett Cup (Pete's Choice), O'Shea Stakes (Rising Fear), Tourist Minister's Cup (Cool Report), Meynink Stakes (Red Rancher), Ascot Handicap (Lord Penn), Bribie Handicap (Royal Samurai), Australia Post Two-Year-Old Stakes (Red Rancher), Ipswich Cup (Distancia), QTC Metropolitan (Sea Scandal), Bernborough Handicap (Smileakyle, He's A Warrior), Rockhampton Cup (Hommed), Hong Kong Gold Cup (Wing Ho), Goldmarket (Be Precise), Hart Stakes (Home Maid, Roipeka) and BTC Cup (Goldorme).
