Lyle Rowe

Rated one of the best jockeys produced in central Queensland, Lyle Rowe rode with great success in Brisbane for nearly two decades. He later returned to Rockhampton where he won several feature races. Rowe is now a successful trainer in Rockhampton. He is best remembered for winning the 1967 Stradbroke on the great sprinter Mr Hush. His best wins included Stradbroke Handicap (Mr Hush), QTC Lightning (Mr Hush), QTC Guineas (Rocky Court), Hopeful Stakes (Golden Bye, El Twice), Lilley Handicap (Mr Hush), Exhibition Handicap (Winfreux), Barnes Plate (Winfreux), BTC Summer Cup (Boobereela), QTC Easter Cup (Paiya), BTC Summer Stakes (Delvilels Image), ITC Summer Cup (Panvale), BTC Stakes (Kionda), Freshman Stakes (El Twice), Doomben Juvenile Stakes (El Twice), Ross Stakes (Doting Boy), Bremer Stakes (Doting Boy), Tatt's Two-Year-Old Stakes (Prince Medes), Grange Plate (Nimble Tim), Rockhampton Newmarket (Kero, Wentwel Lad).
