Jim McGill

There is no doubt that Jim McGill stands as the greatest owner-trainer seen in Queensland. He mixed his efforts with standing stallions at stud and running a hotel business. He had the champion Fitz Grafton who dominated Brisbane racing at the turn of the 20th century but his list of winners ran into the hundreds over a 50 years time span. Some of his other good horses included Proctor, La Grange, Chesterfield, Musician, Sunrise, Olive Garde, Lyndhurst and Mozart.
