George Lambert's famous gold with a purple cap colours were carried to an amazing number of wins in the 1960-70s. In the late 1960s he would have rivalled the Kruger brothers as Queensland's biggest owner.
Almost all of his horses carried the first name Regal. Some of his best horses included Regal Hunter, Regal Glance, Regal Chance, Regal Eve, Regal Legend, Regal Leader and Glance Again.
All George Lambert's horses were trained by Roy Dawsoner and George had a particular soft spot for Regal Glance.
George was one of 3 brothers who owned the seed and produce business of G & W Lambert Ltd with branches all around Queensland and Kyogle in northern New south wales.
He owned a property in Beaudesert called "Dagworth" were he would spell and train his horses which had its own racecourse and stables.
George together with his brothers were very keen fisherman and owned a boat called the Reef Queen and they spent many days fishing out of brisbane and further north catching Marlin and similar game fish. George was a great friend of Bob and dolly dyer and they spent much time on the Reef Queen.
George also had an interest in sailing and owned a racing skiff which was skippered by John Cuneo and won many races on Moreton Bay.
