Doug Bougoure was a former top jockey who enjoyed great success with the star of the late 1940s, Sefiona. Later as a trainer he was always able to produce a good horse from a small team. His best galloper was the superstar Strawberry Road but Bougoure was far more than a one horse trainer.
His son Danny later had great success with the star sprinter Falvelon. Bougoure's best gallopers included Strawberry Road (Cox Plate, AJC Derby, Rosehill Guineas, QTC Derby, Freeway Stakes, Centennial Stakes, Channel 7 Quality), Tingo Tango (Flight Stakes, Reginald Allen Stakes, Furious Stakes), Earlmark (BTC Labour Day Cup, Moreton Handicap, Exhibition Handicap), Smart Alex (Queensland Cup), Gypsy Rogue (Tourist Minister's Cup), Full Scope (Meynink Stakes), QTC Lightning (Magres), Moreton Handicap (Morning Joy), Tourist Minister's Cup (Gypsy Rogue), Williams Quality (Gypsy Rogue) and Goldmarket (Swift Fox).
