A popular "bushie", Barry Miller came to Brisbane from western Queensland in the late 1970s and nearly pulled off a major upset when his horse Casca (100-1) ran second to Manikato in the 1979 Doomben 10,000. Noted as an excellent conditioner of horses (many of them were great wet trackers), his best horse was the multiple Group 1 winner Show A Heart.
His best wins include the Stradbroke Handicap (Show A Heart), Caulfield Guineas (Show A Heart), T.J. Smith Classic (Show A Heart), Doomben Slipper (Show A Heart), Golden Stakes (Show A Heart), Ipswich Cup (Forest Jim), QBBS Stakes (Romanza), Doomben Stakes (Big Rhumba), Sky Channel Stakes (Marcelo), Zabeel Stakes (Bold Dan), QTC Apprentices' Cup (Parotto, Big Dan), Slight Chance Handicap (Miss Sandman), Gunsynd Stakes (Metallic Monarch), Time And Tide Handicap (Madam Zoffany) and Eagers Cup (Happy in Red).
