A cast off from the Tommy Smith stable in Sydney, where he won two races at Randwick, Spedito hit a purple patch in the winter of 1975 winning the Stradbroke-Doomben 10,000 double. He had won a Doomben Flying and Eagle Farm Handicap in the lead up months but his double shocked many experts. Jockey Graham Cook and trainer Jim Griffiths also won the Doomben Cup with Golden Khan that winter. Spedito had another 31 starts winning one more race a Doomben handicap.
