She was one of the best sprinting mares produced in Queensland in the 1950s. She was Brisbane’s top two-year-old in the 1955/56 season, winning seven times and was placed twice from nine starts. New Joy’s best wins at two years were the McDougall Stakes, Piccaninny Stakes and the Ahern Stakes. She went on to race until six years of age, winning a further eight races including the 1957 Tattersall’s Healy Stakes. New Joy ran some top races against the best sprinters with her placings including the Doomben 10,000 (twice), QTC Lightning and QTC Guineas.
