One of the many good stayers Jim Atkins trained for owner Bill Stanley. Mr Cromwell won the 1981 QTC Grand Prix-QTC Derby double and later that year took the VRC Dalgety Handicap. He finished just behind the placegetters in the 1981 Melbourne Cup. Later stood as a sire in Queensland and South Australia.
