Unusual galloper who won the 1954 Hopeful Stakes and 1955 Sires Produce in Brisbane before his form went off the boil for two seasons without winning. He then won the 1958 Weetwood for top Toowoomba jockey Ben Tebb. Malarno was tried in Melbourne where he won six races including the 1959 Feehan Stakes beating top stayer Mac. He returned home to win an Eagle Farm Welter and Ipswich Highweight among the Melbourne wins.
