She is likely to hold a place in Queensland racing history forever after winning a two-year-old at Doomben at 330-1 on March 10, 1956. It is the longest priced winner in Queensland race history and for many years was also the longest priced winner in Australia. She was ridden by long shot jockey Bobby Clarke who later rode two other horses to win at 200-1 but Clarke always said Magic Wind provided him with his greatest thrill in racing. In a strange twist Clarke was apprenticed to trainer Fred Best at the time and the runner up was ridden by Best’s son Noel. Magic Wind won a Doomben Novice at three years and was retired.
