Raced 1970s
Originally from New Zealand he didn’t race until he was four and won a maiden at Doomben in 1971. By the end of the season he had won six races including the June Handicap and Doomben Cup. The Cup was champion jockey Mick Dittman’s first Group 1 victory. Trainer Jim Griffiths hated to travel and after winning four more races for him Knee High was transferred to Tommy Hughes in Melbourne. For Hughes he won feature races in four states - Yarra Glen Cup (Victoria), Hobart Cup (Tasmania), STC Tancred Stakes (NSW) and WATC Imperial Stakes (WA). It meant Knee High won features in five states.
