Raced 1930s
When Harry Plant left Townsville to come to Brisbane in the mid 1930s he took Freebooter with him. It was a smart move as Freebooter, who had won eight races in the north, found his true home - Albion Park racecourse. He was a natural creeker and won eight open company races on the sand circuit. He also won an Eagle Farm Highweight. Freebooter was a crowd favourite because he would drop out in his races but storm home from the tea tree corner. Plant later went on to train in Sydney where he became one of the nation’s greatest ever mentors.
