Raced 1960s
Has gone down in history for finishing third in the famous 1961 Brisbane Cup in which the mighty Tulloch beat Sharpley. But he was a more than handy stayer in his own right winning six open company races including the British Commonwealth Cup and Labour Day Cup. Drumcondra was one of the first good horses trained by Neil Strong and helped Strong become the youngest Australian trainer to win a metropolitan premiership in 1961-62. Strong was just 21-years-old.
