Raced 1960s
Rated the best two-year-old to come out of central Queensland he took the Brisbane racing world by storm in early 1968. Ascot Bridge won his first start at Ipswich by 15 lengths in record time (many who were there say it was closer to 200 metres). He was then involved in one of Brisbane’s most famous protests when he defeated top two-year-old Kaoru Star at Doomben. Kaoru Star’s jockey Skeeter Sanders claimed Maurice Stafford on Ascot Bridge had decked him on the first turn and it was only after a lengthy hearing the protest was dismissed. Ascot Bridge won his only other start at two but missed his entire three-year-old season because of injury. He later won another eight races for trainer Henry Davis including the Weetwood and QTC City Handicap.
