Raced 1990s
He is probably the most under-rated galloper to come out of Queensland. Trained for most of his career by Bruce McLachlan, Al Mansour became only the fifth horse to win the QTC Sires-T.J. Smith Classic double when he took the races in 1997. He holds the Queensland record of seven straight black type races which was achieved in three states. Al Mansour’s winning run began on May 24, 1997, in the Doomben Slipper followed by the QTC Sires, Castlemaine Stakes, Brian Crowley Stakes, Moir Stakes, Emirates (Linlithgow) Stakes and Rubiton Stakes. He was later trained in Sydney by John Size and provided the former Queensland trainer with his first Group 1 winner.
