History: The club began 70 years ago with a handful of interested members. The club raced grass-fed horses that were also used for stock work on a rough track. Interest grew and a permanent track was constructed at the present site in Chahpingah Reserve, which included a school and country nurse facilities near by.
The club has grown over the years. Crowds of 4000 people used to attend but numbers gradually dwindled. There is now a renewed interest, much to the delight of current members. Membership has increased. Many new members are most welcome.
